Are you ready for the Hike 100 Challenge?
Calling all hikers and nature enthusiasts, we’ve got an awesome opportunity for you! To celebrate the National Park Service’s centennial anniversary in 2016, the North Country National Scenic Trail created the Hike 100 Challenge.
What is the Hike 100 Challenge?
So glad you asked! Anyone who hikes 100 miles on the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCNST) during the 2016 year, in total or all at once, will be awarded a special patch and certificate.
The North Country Scenic Trail will send their own NCNST patch and certificate to each individual who completes the challenge. Plus, they’ll send an exclusive National Park Service Resource Stewardship Scout Ranger patch just for participation. Girl Scouts can benefit by combining the Hike 100 Challenge with badges like Brownie Hiker, Junior Camper, Cadette Trailblazing , or other troop activities. Plan your hike(s) by visiting the online maps, downloadable PDF maps, or download GPS tracks on the NCNST Maps and Trail Data page. You can also purchase paper maps in the online Trail Shop.
How do you sign up for the Hike 100 Challenge?
You can sign up for the Hike 100 Challenge here and after your group/troop has completed their miles, submit your application here to receive the special patch. By signing up for the Hike 100 Challenge you will be entered for great giveaways and cool prizes. The NCNST will also send you a digital toolkit to help you and your Girl Scouts track your miles and you’ll receive regular updates about the program.
They’ve packed 2016 full of group hikes, celebrations, and trail projects all along the trail, like the 5th Annual Buckeye TrailFest, May 12-15th in Zoar Village, Ohio.
