With Thanksgiving behind us, the holiday season is in full swing. And while Black Friday and Cyber Monday are great, we’re a bit partial to #GivingTuesday. Celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving back. Join Girl Scouts and people around the world this year to support a mission close to your heart — building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place!

This year, GSWO has set a goal of 100 gifts from people just like you who believe in the future of girls. Plus, we have several opportunities for you to double your impact this year, thanks to several generous donors who are matching #GivingTuesday donations.

So, how can you get in on the generosity this year? There are two different ways.

Donating via gswo.org

Thanks to a generous donor in our council, all gifts made to GSWO via our website on Giving Tuesday will be matched! That means if you donate $50 to GSWO tomorrow, a second $50 donation will also be made. Amazing, right?!

Donating via Facebook

We’re excited to announce that this year, GSWO is taking advantage of Facebook Fundraising! You now have the ability to make donations to Girl Scouts of Western Ohio from within Facebook!

In addition, anyone can set up a fundraiser for GSWO on Facebook. Simply go to facebook.com/GSWOH and click “+ Create Fundraiser” under our cover photo. From there, you can set a goal of how much money you’d like to raise, and begin promoting your fundraiser to your Facebook friends!

When hosting a fundraiser like this, I like to set up my own incentives for friends and family to donate. For example, if they donate $25 to my page, I will bake them a cake of their choice. For a $50 donation, I’ll knit them a scarf. The possibilities are endless!

Plus, this year on Giving Tuesday, Facebook and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation are matching donations made through Facebook Fundraising! Each organization is providing $1 million in donations — that’s $2 million total! Donations will be matched, up to $1,000 per donation, with a cap of $50,000 per nonprofit organization.

The matching begins at 8 a.m. EST tomorrow, November 28, and lasts until the money runs out. So head to facebook.com/GSWOH tomorrow at 8 a.m. to donate or create a fundraiser of your own!
