Troop 45869 Receives Grant for Silver Award

Girl Scout Troop 45869 of Reading, OH, was recently awarded a $500 grant from Constellation Energy through the company’s Constellation Community Champion program.

The Cadette troop of sixth and seventh graders earned the grant by partnering with Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati, supporting the organization as part of their efforts to earn their Girl Scout Silver Award. They toured Pets In Need’s facilities and made dog and cat-themed wreathes for their upcoming “PetCasso” fundraising event.

In addition, Troop 45869 made treat bags for the people and pets who came into the Pets in Need clinic for veterinary services in late December. The clinic is designed to help individuals and families of limited means to enjoy the benefits of healthy and responsible pet ownership, so the treat bags (which are dog or cat specific!) will be a nice, heart-felt surprise for those who may have an especially hard time around the holiday season.

The troop is also planning future projects to support Pets In Need with the grant funds they earned.

The Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn, gives girls the chance to do big things and make their community better in the process. We’re so proud of Cadette Troop 45869 for the progress they’ve made with their Silver Award, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next!
