Awesome State Fair Opportunities for Girl Scouts

Join the Girl Scout fun at the Ohio State Fair July 25-August 5, 2018! You can enter a project, march in a parade, and take part in fun challenges like Duct Tape Creations and Minute to Win It! Plus, you can compete in flag ceremony and talent competitions and enter fun contests like the Cookie Culinary and Ugly Cake.

Girls who enter a project in the fair and march in one of the parades satisfy the key requirements to earn a special patch available only at the fair. The remaining earned patch requirements can be completed in a one-day visit. Information about the special patch and its requirements can be found in the 2018 Ohio State Fair Complete Book. Anyone visiting the Girl Scout exhibit area at the fair can also purchase a commemorative patch!

How do you enter a project in the state fair?

Fair exhibits should be an outgrowth of Girl Scout programs either in troop, camp, or growth of individual girl in pursuit of a hobby. The areas girls can enter projects are Life Skills, Customs and Traditions, Science and Beyond, The Arts, Communications, Out-of-Doors, and Girl Scout Program. Girls are allowed only one entry per category per exhibitor.

Check out the 2018 Ohio State Fair Complete Book for more information on the categories for fair entry, how to enter projects, project judging guidelines, and important dates and deadlines for fair entries. Entry forms can be mailed or emailed and must be received by Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Projects can be mailed to the fair and must be received by Monday, July 16, 2018. Non-mailed entries must be delivered to the Youth Center at the fair Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 1 pm – 4 pm.
