
Adventure Out This Summer at Girl Scout Camp!
Looking for adventure? There’s a camp for that!
Whether you’re interested in hiking, rock climbing, canoeing or piloting an aircraft (wait, what?!) we have a camp for you. Join us this summer as we take on the outdoors. There are so many opportunities to adventure out with Girl Scouts! Here are a few of the various camp experiences offered this summer.
Cliff Hangers 
Ready to rock this summer?
You conquered the high ropes course and owned that rock wall. Now it’s time to try the real thing! Come with us to Red River Gorge and meet with certified climbing guides. You’ll spend a day learning knots, how to belay and how to climb on real rocks! The next day, you’ll suit-up in a harness and learn how to rappel. Plus there will be plenty of time in between to hike and explore all that Red River Gorge has to offer.
Girls will work towards their Adventurer or Ultimate Recreation Challenge badges.

AirCamp 
Come fly with us!
Are you ready for a week long adventure in aviation? GSWO and Air Camp, Inc. have teamed up to provide you with an opportunity to soar above the clouds! You’ll learn about the technology & engineering of aviation and aeronautics. Test your skills as you work together with your flight team to successfully complete a water rescue simulation and black box retrieval design challenge. Attend flight ground school and meet experts in the aviation field. You’ll even get to design and paint an aircraft!
By the end of the week, you’ll learn how to pilot a real aircraft from Wright Brothers Airfield in Miamisburg under the direction and support of an FAA certified pilot instructor.

Into the Woods 
Over the river and through the woods…
It’s not quite a trip to grandma’s house. Take your camping to the next level on this backpacking trip to the Hocking Hills! Spend the first day at Camp Whip Poor Will gathering gear and preparing for the trip. Next you’ll head to southeast Ohio, spending three days and two nights on the trail cooking your own meals and seeing beautiful scenic views and waterfalls!
Girls may bring their own backpacking backpack or use one of the camp’s. Campers must be able to hike several miles a day carrying a loaded pack. It is recommended that girls take Backpacking Basics offered through GSWO. Girls will work toward their Adventurers or Ultimate Recreation Challenge Badges.

Whitewater Adventurers 
Grab a paddle and hold on!
Conquer the rapids on the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania by day and camp out under the stars by night. Prepare your own meals, explore the rapids and learn how to work together with your teammates. Back on land, you’ll experience the beautiful sites of the Laurel Highlands. And you don’t want to miss checking out one of our nations Top Ten Natural Water-slides!
Girls will work toward their Ultimate Recreation Challenge or Adventurer badge.

Paddler Paradise 
This is going to be a big oar-deal.
Get ready for a great canoeing adventure! You’ll explore a bunch of small, connected lakes at Chain O’Lakes State Park in Indiana all while camping, cooking and living out of a backpack. Don’t worry, before you leave camp you’ll learn how to pack your backpack and canoe and practice canoe skills! Return to camp just in time for the final campfire and share stories from your amazing adventure!
Girls should have prior canoeing experience. Girls will work towards their Paddling or Ultimate Recreation Challenge badges.
