
2017 Program Sneak Peak: Outdoor and STEM
Calling all adventurers! The leaves are falling and winter is on its way, but don’t let the colder temperatures send your Girl Scout into hibernation! There’s way too much to do in Western Ohio in 2017!
Have you ever wanted to be a mad scientist? See the world from new heights on a rock wall? Bring the family to camp for an overnight? This is your chance!
We’ve got a wide array of program events coming for 2017, so check out the options in our Program Event Guide online, choose your favorites, and grab your spots gswo.org.
Here’s a sneak peak of just a few of our 2017 Outdoor and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) program events.
Outdoor
Rock-In Climbing Overnight: Rock Quest Climbing Center, Cincinnati
CSA | Jan 14-15 | $30/person
Climb on! Take over Rock Quest, and spend the night experiencing the fun and excitement of rock climbing! “Hang” out with new friends, munch on late-night snacks, and have a blast!
Survival Skills Overnight: Camp Stonybrook, Waynesville
CSA | Feb 11-12 | $30/person
Can your girls thrive in a survival situation? Learn about wild edibles, self defense, and how to keep calm when everything is falling apart at this fun overnight!
Mother-Daughter Overnight: Camp Rolling Hills, Pleasant Hill
All Ages | April 1-2 | $40/person
Experience an overnight adventure with your daughter. Girls and their special lady will shoot archery, tackle the climbing wall, make a craft, take a hike, and learn useful outdoor skills together. You’ll both have a great time singing camp songs and roasting s’mores before drifting off to sleep in one of our cozy lodges.
Family Tent Camping: Camp Stonybrook, Waynesville
All Ages | April 29-30 | $5/person
Grab your sleeping bags and pack the pop up tent for this family camping adventure! Choose from an array of programs to enjoy at your leisure, such as hikes, crafts, s’mores, and sling shots!
Adults are responsible for supervising their campers for the duration of their stay and are responsible for dinner the first night. A light snack will be served in the evening and a continental breakfast will be offered in the morning.
STEM
Armstrong Air and Space Museum Girl Scout Events: Wapakoneta
Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes | Various Dates | Various Costs
There are so many awesome events planned in partnership with the education staff at Armstrong Air and Space we couldn’t just pick one!
Cadettes can be an astronaut on a mission at the Astronaut Training Overnight, Saturday March 11 through Sunday March 12, 2017 for $35/girl and $7/adult.
Brownies and Juniors can experience A Night at the Museum, Saturday April 22 through Sunday April 23, 2017 for $25/girl and $7/adult.
Daisies through Juniors can explore the museum and join a hands-on workshop for their age level led by museum staff at our Day at the Museum Saturday April 29, 2017 for $4/girl (Daisy/Brownie), $5/girl (Junior), and $7/adult.
Science of the Night: Camp Libbey, Defiance or Camp Stonybrook, Waynesville
Brownies | Feb 25-26 or April 1-2 | $15/girl, $8/adult
Mad scientists work on crazy experiments late into the night, and now our Brownies will too! Learn about making crystals, static electricity, slime, density, astronomy, and night creatures as you earn your Brownie Home Scientist badge.
End the evening with a slumber party and movie, and enjoy brunch before heading home the next day.
CSA girls can be program aides at Stonybrook at our Science of the Night Leadership Opportunity! Cost is $5/girl and adults free.
Robots, Robots, Robots: Girl Scout Centers in Toledo and Dayton and iSPACE in Cincinnati
Juniors, CSA | Various Dates | $25/girl, Free for Adults
What do you get when you combine girls, LEGOS, and a computer? Robotics fun! Girls will have a blast building, programming, and running a LEGO robot.
How do I sign my girls up?
Registration for our events is through our council website: gswo.org. Click on “Activities” and search for the activity that you want to register for and click “Register Now.”
Log in using the same username and password as your My GS profile and follow the registration directions. Remember most events require adults to attend with their girls and most of our events will close registration two weeks prior to the event date.
